December - 2006 Press Release
The Indigenous Society, a nonprofit organization that provides
computers and computer training to economically disadvantaged
individuals with the goal of creating job and educational
opportunities has begun a new project to provide a 100 low
income students at the University of the South Pacific with
a refurbished computer.
Many of the University of the South Pacific students come
from exteremely poor rural villages of remote islands, and
do not have the means to aquire a computer. The Indigenous
Society hopes that teh students will then help to integrate
computers in these rural villages through computer labs
and partner with the University to provide disatnce learning.
Therby increasing higher educational learning opportunities
to those whom would not otherwise have such a chance.
